Please review the following Commission Guidelines, so you fully understand the process of commissioning an artist to paint for you.
GETTING STARTED:
My custom pet portraits are completed using acrylic on canvas. The process is started by creating a highly-detailed sketch of your pet, using the photo that you have provided. This is why it is very important that you email me a very clear, well-lit picture of your pet, that is approved by me prior to purchasing your painting. I want to be sure to accurately capture your pet's personality, expression, and unique features, and this photo will be a big part of that process.
The other part of that process is using information gathered from you about your pet's personality, temperament, lifestyle, etc. You are asked to include these details when you email me your pet's photo.
One other request, is that you tell me your color preferences prior to me starting the painting. For example, please let me know if there are color combinations you absolutely love, or if you truly dislike certain colors.
SIZING & PRICING NOTE:
You may have noticed that I have restricted the number of subjects allowed on certain canvas sizes. I have found that my style of painting pet portraits looks best when your pet is painted as LARGE and in charge! Therefore, I have restricted paintings with more than one subject to canvas sizes equal to or larger than 20" x 24". Each additional subject adds $100 to the price of the painting. An additional $50 is added per pet for full body portraits.
BUYING YOUR PAINTING:
Buying your painting is easy. Once you decide on your canvas size, you can choose the payment method that works best for you. Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, and all major credit cards are accepted through PayPal. Shipping costs are not included in the cost of the painting. Payment is not expected until after the painting has been shipped. I will send you an invoice for the total cost, including the painting and shipping UPS Ground, insured.
PAINTING COMPLETION & REVISION:
When commissioning an artist to do a custom painting, it is important to allow the artist to have creative control. Although it is human nature to have ideas about how you think the portrait will look, it is best to be flexible, open-minded, and not too specific about your expectations. This type of painting is meant to be a playful interpretation of your pet's fabulous spirit, created and interpreted by me, the artist.
When the painting is completed, I will send you a preview photo. If you want small revisions, I will do what I can to adjust the painting to accommodate your request. For larger revisions, an hourly charge ranging from $50-$100 per hour will be applied.
In general, it takes about 2 weeks to complete a painting; however, this can vary depending on demand. If I anticipate that it will take longer, I will be sure to let you know. When your painting is completed, it will be wired and ready to hang.
SHIPPING:
I ship using UPS Ground. I will send you the tracking number along with the final invoice for the painting and shipping.
REPRODUCTION RIGHTS:
Although the painting is fully owned by the patron, reproduction rights to the image of the painting belong to the Artist. If you feel strongly that I not reproduce the image of your pet, I am happy to respect that wish. However, I typically offer prints for sale in various venues, such as Etsy, Printed Mint, and Zazzle. Your pet's playful image can be made into a signed print (purchased through Etsy), and/or added to a t-shirt, hat, handbag, sticker, coffee mug, or various other fun accessories (purchased through my Etsy shop).
